NewsMirari Receives U.S. Patent For Peplica™ Reverse Translation Technology Rockville, MD - January 30, 2007 - Mirari Biosciences was awarded U.S. Patent 7,169,894 entitled “Methods and Compositions for Reverse Translation”. The patent covers Mirari’s novel Peplica™ technology, which is a promising new platform technology with applications in drug discovery and clinical diagnostics. Peplica™ technology enables the detection of trace levels of peptides and proteins associated with serious diseases by amplifying the peptides and proteins through “molecular photocopying”. Mirari’s patent describes the invention of “reverse translation”. In reverse translation, genetic material, such as RNA or DNA, is directly synthesized from the peptide or protein that it encodes, thus converting peptide or protein information into genetic information, which can then be amplified by existing methods such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Mirari Biosciences, Inc. is a start-up platform biotechnology company founded in 2000 to streamline Life Sciences R&D and Clinical Diagnostics through the invention of valuable new molecular detection technologies. Mirari’s Peplica™ and Microwave-Accelerated Surface Chemistry (MASC™) technologies embody this mission. |
